AVIANO AIR BASE, Italy – On June 15, 2022, Sophia Fisher was selected as the Aviano Youth of the Year (YoY), the highest honor of the Aviano youth program.
A panel of three judges chose her from a group of four candidates after looking at their resumes portfolios, interviews and speeches given through the judging process. Sophia was distinguished for her part in improving Aviano Youth Programs and Teen Programs. The YoY serves as a role model and spokesperson for youths and teens of the Aviano community by raising awareness of the impact of the programs and the experiences they offer. Sophia was elected Keystone President and is a large force behind more than five projects bringing together over 100 youths while fostering a heathy social environment. Resilient and hard-working, Sophia strives for academic excellence by maintaining her 4.0 GPA, is a member of the National Junior Honor Society and the student council. Outside of school, she also stays very busy as a dancer as well as a member of the local Italian Volleyball league. Sophia has been an active member of U.S. Air Force youth programs since the age of five.
