MARINE CORPS BASE CAMP PENDLETON, Calif. - Fellow service members, family and friends gathered at Del Mar here to pay their final respects and celebrate the life of a fallen Marine, Dec. 8.

Cpl. Richard W. Mozley, 23, from Mesa, Ariz., Amphibious Assault Vehicle specialist with Reparable Management Company, 1st Maintenance Battalion, Combat Logistics Regiment 15, 1st Marine Logistics Group, died of complications from leukemia, Dec. 3.

"Mozley was an outstanding Marine and even better friend," said Lance Cpl. Gregory S. Adams, 24, from Lexington, Ky., an Amphibious Assault Vehicle technician with RMC. "He was very personable and would do anything to help out a fellow Marine, whether it's making someone smile or being the designated driver."

Mozley was well known to fellow Marines by his unique grin. His grin has been defined by many as confident. If given a task by one of his superiors, Mozley would sport the grin, accept the challenge and conduct the mission at hand, said Adams.

"Cpl. Mozley was an all-around great Marine and leader," said Capt. Joseph M. Flynn, 40, from Troy, Mich., commanding officer of RMC. "He was selected out of 40 other corporals and sergeants to be the section head."

Reparable Management Company Marines recalled Mozley being very knowledgeable and helpful when it came to work. He also kept those characteristics with him in his per-sonal life.

"Cpl. Mozley has so many close friends, family and fellow Marines," said Gunnery Sgt. Marco T. Marroquinortiz, 31, from Shafer, Calif., acting first sergeant of RMC. "He's going to be greatly missed."
