    380th Air Expeditionary Wing

Spc. Noah Mangas, an air defense enhanced early warning system operator assigned to the 4th Battalion 3rd Air Defense Artillery Regiment, was recognized as July's 'Top Performer' by the 380th Air Expeditionary Wing's 5/6 Council August 25, 2022, at Al Dhafra Air Base, United Arab Emirates. The Top Performer Award gives supervisors a monthly opportunity to recognize service members that go above and beyond in their duties.

Mangas was selected above his peers for stepping up to new challenges and experiences. He was handpicked to conduct an air defense brief to the The United States Army Central commander, Lt. Gen. Patrick D. Frank, and Command Sgt. Maj. Jacinto Garza.

"His extensive knowledge of the Battery Command Post (BCP) and incredible briefing skills led to him being recognized as the best brief they have received in the CENTCOM area of responsibility," said 1st Lt. Victor Castagno, the Platoon leader for the 4-3 ADA's Charlie Battery. "His brief consisted of all three positions in the BCP and answering all questions asked. Due to his briefing ability and professional conduct, Charlie Battery was recognized as the best Patriot Battery in the CENTCOM AOR.

Mangas also oversaw and validated the training of three BCP crews, preparing them for recertification. All three crews received excellent alert state assumption scores and air battle scores, averaging 184 out of 200 and 198 out of 200, respectively. As a U.S. Army specialist, Mangas serves in a role above his grade as a BCP noncommissioned officer in charge. He is responsible for the the occupational performance of eight Soldiers in three different roles and on three different crews in the BCP.
