Nearly 160 Reserve Citizen Airmen from the 310th Mission Support Group held a four-day training event at the U.S. Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Aug. 4-7.

Typically, the two 310th Space Wing security forces squadrons conduct an annual readiness event to meet training and evaluation requirements. This time, personalists, support services, logistics and medical reservists participated.

“Over the last two or three years we haven’t really had an opportunity to train as a group on what we do in the field because of COVID restrictions,” said Col. Molly Spedding, the 310th MSG commander. “I wanted people to come out and feel this was primarily focused on training and reintroducing ourselves to our key deployed assets and skills in an environment that isn’t focused on evaluation. I want them to focus on the skills that atrophied over the last three years.”

In-person manning reductions degraded Airmen’s ability to conduct training under most circumstances.

“We need to rebuild those skills,” said Spedding. “The physical, emotional, spiritual agility and resilience we always talk about. This is where those words are put into actions.”
