Marine Corps Air Station (MCAS) Cherry Point held a remembrance service for the lives lost during the terrorist attacks of 9/11, Memorial Chapel, MCAS Cherry Point, North Carolina, Sept. 9, 2022.
Twenty-one years ago, tragedy struck American soil and the hearts of American people when terrorists claimed the lives of 2,977 people during the attacks on the World Trade Center, the Pentagon, and Somerset County, Pennsylvania.
“It’s hard to believe that 21 years ago that our great nation was attacked,” said U.S. Navy Cmdr. Wesley Myhand, MCAS Cherry Point command chaplain. “Many of us today remember what we were doing, where we were, and we watched in horror as planes flew into the Twin Towers and the Pentagon.”
From the invocation to the event’s closing, those in attendance were reminded of their oath to serve and protect the nation.
Never forget.
