A change of command ceremony for the 167th Mission Support Group was held at the 167th Airlift Wing, Shepherd Field, Martinsburg, W.Va., Sept. 10.
Col. William Annie relinquished command of the 167th MSG to Lt. Col. Corey Gause.
Annie vacated the group commander position he held since June 2020 to fulfill his new role as the 167th AW vice commander.
During the ceremony, acting 167th AW Commander, Col. Christopher Sigler, praised Annie for his work ethic and positive attitude.
“He shows up with a great attitude, he’s level headed and just a true joy to work with and I look forward to working with him in the headquarters office over the next few months,” said Sigler.
Annie was presented with a meritorious service medal before ceremoniously passing the 167th MSG guidon to Gause who brings a breadth of work experience and education to his new role.
His previous assignments include deputy United States Property and Fiscal Officer-Air and director of Plans and Programs for the West Virginia Air National Guard. He worked on policy for the Office of the Secretary of Defense for Homeland Defense and Global Security and served as a space control officer for the National Reconnaissance Office. In 2009 Gause deployed to Afghanistan where he helped set up a NATO training mission.
“Of all my assignments, this one as MSG group commander is my most prized,” Gause said. “Here I get to do what I do best, or what I think I do best, or what I want to do best; work with people and develop support for this critical mission.”
Gause said he will define his success by his ability to enable his squadron commanders and senior non-commissioned officers.
Speaking to the men and women of the 167th MSG, Gause said, “I’m going to ask of you, no, I’m going to demand it, first-class customer service all the way for anyone who needs our services. And you have my total support.”
