WASHINGTON - Naval Facilities Engineering Systems Command (NAVFAC) Washington awarded $9,159,650.00 firm-fixed-price construction task order to Tuckerman-Barbee Construction Co., Inc. Upper Marlboro, Md. to Design-Build Santee Basin Layout for Phased Construction at the United States Naval Academy located in Annapolis, Md.
Several floating piers located in the Santee Basin at the U.S. Naval Academy have failed as a result of wave action in the basin, thus reaching the end of their useful life. The accompanying wave screen is also deteriorating and in need of replacement. The work to be performed includes the installation of a wave attenuator system and floating dock system at Santee Basin, deconstruction of the existing deteriorating wave screen, and other incidental related work.
The contract was awarded Sept. 15, 2022. All work will be performed at the United States Naval Academy located in Annapolis, Md. and is expected to be completed by September 2024.
