Story by Petty Officer 1st Class Nicolas Lopez

    Navy Talent Acquisition Group Nashville

Everyone, this is Boatswain's Mate 2nd Class (SW) Montre'nese James, a native of Savannah, Ga.

EN2 James enlisted into the Navy in 2014. She comes from a military background and is what is known as she is a military brat. Her parents are dual Army officers and you would think she would have joined the Army instead, but her dad spoke very highly of the Navy and the rest is history after that.

Prior to being a recruiter in NTAG Nashville's Division 7's Navy Recruiting Station Collierville, she came from aircraft carrier USS John C. Stennis (CVN 74) homeported in Norfolk, Va. and Region Legal Service Office Mid-Atlantic in Norfolk.

Another reason for joining the Navy was all the amount of travel that entailed with being stationed on a ship. She remembered traveling with her mom when she got orders and loved every moment of it.

When up for orders, BM2 wanted to be a recruiter because of her past experience with her Navy recruiter. With that in mind, she wanted to make sure that all incoming future applicants had the best and detailed information on what it's like to be a Sailor.

BM2 has now been recruiting for a year and since her time as a recruiter, she has recruited 14 Sailors. One thing that she really likes about this job is what happens after she puts these Sailors in and hearing that this was the best decision that they could have done in their life.

Just like every job, this job also had its challenges to overcome that BM2 James is trying to do. She said that, "I just gotta keep doing what I gotta do to help the command." She is making the best of what she can do and keeping busy, especially being a full time Sailor, mom, and student. At the end of day she is focused on completing her goals, which is to make E6 and then cross rating to Legalmen.
