Landstuhl Regional Medical Center’s (LRMC) Obstetrics and Gynecology Clinic will limit patient empanelment to Active-Duty beneficiaries only with space-available care for Active-Duty dependents.
These restrictions will remain until further notice. According to clinic leadership, the curtailed capacity is a result of constrained resources and staffing.
“Our goal is to provide high-quality, compassionate, and safe patient care. If we can’t guarantee this to our beneficiaries, and risks are too costly, we will prioritize the safety of our patients above all else,” said U.S. Army Col. Andrew Landers, commander, LRMC.
LRMC does provide care to retirees, family members enrolled in TRICARE Select and non-TRICARE beneficiaries on a space-available basis, meaning if an appointment is available and not already booked, then a retiree or eligible civilian may be seen. However, availability of these appointments varies widely based on clinic staffing and support to operational units.
MTFs provide health care to beneficiaries according to the following basic priorities as determined by DoD and TRICARE policy:
Priority 1: Active-duty service members
Priority 2: Active-duty Family members enrolled in TRICARE Prime
Priority 3: Retirees, their Family members and survivors who are enrolled in TRICARE Plus
Priority 4: Active-duty Family members who are not enrolled in TRICARE Prime
Priority 5: All other TRICARE eligible persons
Priority 6: Non-TRICARE eligible persons (e.g. general schedule federal employees, Army and Air Force Exchange Services and Department Of Defense Education Activity employees)
Priority is given to Active-Duty Service Members and their family members to ease the burden of navigating unfamiliar healthcare systems, allowing Service Members to perform their military service without worry.
Priority 2 beneficiaries who are not able to be seen at the LRMC OB/GYN Clinic, and those in other priority categories, will be referred to a host nation network provider through the LRMC Referral Management Office.
Additionally, all beneficiaries will be afforded the option to receive care with host nation network providers if they choose, including Active-Duty Service Members.
Current patients receiving obstetric care at the LRMC OBGYN Clinic will also have the choice to request referral to a network provider.
LRMC’s Host Nation Patient Liaison Office is available to assist with translation services, host nation facility information / environment of care, determine specific assistance needs and accompany patients on first visits if available.
