FORT GORDON, GA – U.S. Army Central (USARCENT) hosted Exercise Lucky Strike 2022, at Fort Gordon, Georgia, Sept. 16 – 23, 2022.
Approximately 100 U.S. Army Central personnel participated in the exercise, which prepared the command for future rapid deployments. The exercise focused on interoperability and tested the capabilities of USARCENT’s contingency command post, main command post, and the 513th Military Intelligence Brigade.
Exercise Lucky Strike consisted of field training, battle staff readiness, fire team missions and crisis response.
“Our contingency command post's mission is to deploy during a crisis into CENTCOM (U.S. Central Command) area of responsibility in order to provide direct coordination with units to assess the situation and make recommendations,” said Maj. David Trinh, USARCENT deputy chief of operations. “As a three-star headquarters that needs to be prepared for combat, we need to be rapidly deployable to be able to command and control division site units and initiators. There are not many headquarters capable of doing this in the Army.”
Additionally, Exercise Lucky Strike maintained situational awareness through battle-tracking with the help of the 513th MI Brigade.
“The 513th provides the source and technical intelligence in the form of TSCIF (Tactical Sensitive Compartmented Information Facility),” said Cpt. Ryan Hoskinson, regional team leader with the 513th MI Brigade's Deployable Intelligence Support Element. “We add analytics and technical elements, such as geospatial and all source combined analytical power to theater aligned with USARCENT and CENTCOM.”
Exercise Lucky Strike focused on executing theater tasks that set the stage for potential component operations.
