POINT MUGU, Calif. – Lt. Casanova Love, a native of Alexandria, Louisiana, relieved Chief Warrant Officer 4 Michelle Hamilton as Security Officer (SECO) of Naval Base Ventura County (NBVC), Aug 23, 2022.

“Warrant Hamilton turned over a great program,” said Love. “A smooth transition is critical for mission readiness as my initial assessment confirmed that NBVC is a very active base with many challenges.”

Love’s former duty assignments include SECO for Naval Criminal Investigative Service (NCIS) Security Training Assistance and Assessment Team Pacific (STAATPAC), Naval Support Activity (NSA) Bahrain, and the Wasp-class amphibious assault ship USS Essex (LHD 2).

"We welcome Lt. Love as an integral member of our organization," said Capt. Robert “Barr” Kimnach III, commanding officer, NBVC. "LT will continue to improve our force protection's positive performance marks for current and future Naval security requirements."

Security (Limited Duty) Officers serve as technical leaders and managers in Force Protection and specific areas of antiterrorism, physical security, law enforcement and corrections operations. Responsible for overall asset protection through deterrence, detection, defense and prevention of criminal activities, sabotage, and terrorism onboard NBVC.

Love, a prior enlisted Sailor, states that staying grounded is a key element of success.

“I’ll always be that kid from Acadian Village,” said Love. “The only thing that’s changed is the Navy gave me an amazing opportunity to serve and experience the world.”

NBVC is comprised of three distinct operational facilities: Point Mugu, Port Hueneme and San Nicolas Island. It is Ventura County’s largest employer and protects Southern California’s largest coastal wetlands through its award-winning environmental program.
