JOINT BASE CHARLESTON, S.C.—Airmen from the 16th Airlift Squadron and Soldiers from the 108th Air Defense Artillery Brigade, Fort Bragg, North Carolina, worked together during an iteration of Joint Base Charleston’s Mission Oriented Trainer program at Pope Army Airfield, North Carolina, Sept. 15, 2022.

During this joint training, Airmen and Soldiers worked together to get hands-on experience loading and tying down vehicles on a C-17 Globemaster III.

“This program allows us to partner with many different units throughout the Southeast and execute focused loadmaster training,” said Capt. Jordan Robertson, 16th Airlift Squadron pilot. “It's important for us to work with a diversity of upload equipment to enable our loadmasters to become technically proficient for operational missions.”

Through this training program, both Airmen and Soldiers earn their necessary certifications for any upcoming deployments, ensuring mission readiness.

“We are training with the Air Force testing loadout capabilities, and getting air load teams certified for deployment purposes,” said 1st. Lt. Shanna McCloskey, 108th ADA Brigade artillery officer.

Even though participants come from different branches, the MOT program enables Air Force and Army junior enlisted personnel to learn together and teach each other the different capabilities they bring to the fight.

“Being able to work with the Army today allowed us to learn from each other from the bottom level to the top level of our organizations, both from a doctrine standpoint and an operational hands-on standpoint,” Roberson said.
