JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The “Red Lancers” of Patrol Squadron (VP) 10 were awarded the Chief of Naval Operations Aviation Safety Award for 2021.
During 2021, VP-10 logged 885 flights encompassing over 5,000 flight hours of Class A/B mishap-free flying, including a 155 day deployment.
While deployed, squadron personnel were scattered across the globe. One way VP-10 worked to mitigate risk was to place a fully qualified Aviation Safety Officer at every major detachment site, allowing the safety team to conduct in-person, site-specific training for all personnel. This allowed the squadron to execute 2,900 mishap-free hours flying reconnaissance, anti-submarine warfare, Strike Group support and humanitarian support while managing 18 detachments to 12 different nations.
“I am extremely proud of the Red Lancers and commend the passionate pursuit to improve processes across the entire Wing-11 team,” said VP-10 Commanding Officer Cdr. Marc Hines. “It is a testament to our dedication to safety every day.”
This is VP-10’s tenth CNO Aviation Safety Award and the first one since 2005.
