U.S. Air Force Maj. Gen. Phillip Stewart, 19th Air Force
commander, and Chief Master Sgt. Justin Apticar, 19th Air Force command chief, visited Holloman Air Force Base, New Mexico, Sep. 28-30, 2022.
During the base tour, the 19th Air Force command team held a commander’s call and visited multiple facilities to talk with Airmen across the 49th Wing about the mission and the capabilities of their respective squadrons.
Stewart visited F-16 Viper and MQ-9 Reaper training squadrons to learn how Holloman Air Force Base is working to train our future combat fighter pilots and sensor operators.
“The men and women of the 49th Wing play a vital role in the Air Force’s ability to project combat air power in future conflicts,” said Stewart. “The fact that a huge percentage of F-16 and MQ-9 aircrew trace their heritage back to Holloman shows how the contributions of the Fighting 49ers impact the Air Force.”
While touring the base, Stewart also was able to hear from Airmen how their specific jobs contribute, not only to the mission of the 49th Wing, but to the greater Air Force mission as well.
“Our entire team here in the 49th Wing does an incredible job building combat aircrew and leading and developing their Airmen at every level,” said U.S. Air Force Col. Justin Spears, 49th Wing commander.
The 19th Air Force command team visit showcased the capabilities of Holloman Air Force Base and highlighted the Airmen who stand out in their workplaces.
“I am thankful for the sacrifices, dedication and hard work of all our Airmen, their families and our community partners.” Stewart said. “Each one is an important part of Team Holloman and why our mission is so incredibly successful.”
