U.S. Army Training and Doctrine Command

The Association of the United States Army’s annual meeting will be held from Oct. 10 to Oct. 12 and will discuss a wide range of topics related to professional development, accessions, force modernization, and people first.

Maj. Gen. Johnny Davis, commanding general, U.S. Army Recruiting Command, and Command Sgt. Maj John Foley, command sergeant major, USAREC, will be hosting the Warriors Corner discussion “Reconnecting America and the Army,” which will highlight how the Army is working to close the divide between America and the military and restore public trust.

The discussion will address the Army’s efforts to revert back to the grassroots of recruiting as it adjusts recruiting methods after the pandemic. This includes more in-person interaction with high schools, tech schools, colleges and universities, and other local communities.

Davis and Foley will also speak about how TRADOC is working to mobilize the Army through working with Veterans Service Organizations, and employing Civilian Aides to the Secretary of the Army and Army Reserve Ambassadors.

American businesses, first-responders and the military services are competing for qualified people in a highly competitive job market, but the Army has a “must win” mission.

As the Army competes in the war for talent in America, new accessions initiatives are taking the forefront, such as the Future Soldier Prep Course, a new program that invests in America’s youth through a new route to service that enables them to overcome academic and physical barriers to serve.

The Army is also leveraging veteran support to inspire service in the younger generation, and are working with the Partnering for Your Success and Soldier for Life teams to increase career and leadership development opportunities.

These organizations help connect America to its Army through public-private partnerships to provide opportunities to Soldiers when leaving active service. Soldiers represent the Army as citizens and share their stories with civilian counterparts. Industry gives them a solid career foundation for life after active duty service.

The event will be held Monday, Oct. 10 from 12:50 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. in Hall D of the Walter E. Washington Convention Center. The discussion will also be livestreamed on the TRADOC Facebook page and on DVIDS.

AUSA will feature other events focused on the accessions mission to include the Contemporary Military Forum “In a War for Talent: Recruiting, Retention, and Opportunity,” which will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 12 at 1:30 p.m.
