Lt. Col. Brennan McDonald assumed command of the 300th Airlift Squadron from Lt. Col. Michael Parker during a change of command ceremony, Oct. 15, 2022, at Joint Base Charleston, South Carolina.

The ceremony was officiated by Lt. Col. Diane E. Patton, commander of the 315th Operations Group here.

“It’s an honor to wear this uniform first and foremost,” said McDonald. “We’re the lucky ones.”

McDonald flew his first C-17 Globemaster III with the 300 AS upon graduating training and says he feels like he is coming home to the 300 AS.

“The 300 AS people and what we do here is home to me,” said McDonald.

The squadron's major responsibilities are to maintain combat-ready aircrews in support of ever-changing global taskings such as contingencies, humanitarian relief, presidential support and exercises.

McDonald was liaison to Air Force Strategy serving as a critical link between Headquarters Air Force staff and the Air Force Reserve Command, aligning Reserve capabilities with national military strategy prior to assuming command of the 300 AS.

“You’ll be a tremendous leader for the 300th Airlift Squadron,” said Parker to McDonald during the ceremony.

“I’m proud to call myself a 300th volunteer,” said McDonald in his closing remarks.
