MANAMA, Bahrain – Naval Supply Systems Command (NAVSUP) Fleet Logistics Center (FLC) Bahrain provided contracting and logistics support to the Arleigh Burke-Class destroyer, USS Delbert D. Black (DDG 119), in a recent port visit to Bahrain, Oct 7-12.
This is the first port visit to Bahrain for the Delbert D. Black during her maiden deployment. The vessel is named for the first Master Chief Petty Officer of the Navy (MCPON). MCPON Delbert Black was known for initiating the master chief program and ensuring enlisted leadership was represented Navy-wide.
During the visit, FLC Bahrain personnel provided mission critical support, including 24 pallets of cargo totaling and four high priority repair parts. FLC Bahrain’s fleet mail center also delivered mail to the Sailors.
LS2 Colin Pieters, a Logistics Support Representative (LSR) at FLC Bahrain noted “It was a privilege to support the USS Delbert Black while she was here in port in Bahrain. We take pride in knowing that NAVSUP FLC Bahrain supports their mission readiness.”
“We appreciate the hard work the LSR team provided to support our visit,” said Lt. Frank Silva, USS Delbert Black’s supply officer. “NAVSUP FLC Bahrain ensured a carefree port visit.”
