FAIRCHILD AIR FORCE BASE, Wash. -- Airmen from the 92nd Security Forces Squadron participated in a Combat Readiness Training (CRT) program, simulating an Agile Combat Employment (ACE) environment at Fairchild Air Force Base.
CRT is a locally designed program implemented at Fairchild to reteach and emphasize the basics of airbase ground defense and took place over 11 months.
"This program helps us train our Defenders for those missions that we don't do daily," said Capt. Nicolas Capriato, 92nd SFS operations officer. "They are training for those missions that we could be called upon at any time to execute in a contested environment."
Each month, Airmen attended training to discuss and practice various exercises relating to airbase ground defense. After the 11 months, they participated in a large-scale practical training day culminating each skill they learned.
"This program is important to ACE because it gives Defenders repetitions on skillsets they can use for future operations," said Staff Sgt. Timothy Geerts, 92nd SFS installation patrolman. “The program also empowered our noncommissioned officers with the opportunity to lead and train their junior enlisted in a simulated contested environment.”
During the exercise, Airmen were placed in a simulated contested environment, tasked with securing and assuming control over an airfield.
"I am so proud of the team for putting this program together, taking it seriously, and making it a valuable experience," said Capriato. "It's on us to be prepared in this unstable world, and our Defenders are determined to do their part to be ready for anything and everything."
Fairchild's CRT program has successfully introduced critical training into security forces' everyday battle rhythm and developed mission-ready airmen to win the future fight.
