    Navy Talent Acquisition Group Carolina

Rear Admiral Alexis “Lex” Walker who recently took over the Naval Recruiting Command in March of 2022, is the new commander for the 26 Navy Talent Aquation Groups (NTAG) across the country and its territories.

Admiral Walker took a trip to the Carolinas to get an up front and personal look at the current state of navy recruiting. He was here the first week of August and took a trip to approximately 15 recruiting stations and to the Naval Nuclear Power Training Command (NNPTC).

Admiral Walker sat down with recruiters from all over the Carolinas to not only introduce himself as the new Admiral, but to also hear how Navy recruiting is going for the current recruiters. Once he heard all the comments from the sailors, he then opened the floor for discussion, which is where he allowed them to input their opinions and ideas to make recruiting easier for them. In the process of these open floor discussions, he laid out the new policies he planned to implement, which consist of a change in the Navy uniform while recruiting and out in the field. Aside from recruiters, he also spoke with Delayed Entry Program (DEP) Future Sailors at NRS Wilmington. The focus of discussion revolved around basic training and their mindset going into it.

While at NNPTC, the Admiral spoke with a few staff members at the school on the candidates that they have received from the recruiters, and to discuss how he can improve on their selection. He also had a discussion with current students who are going through nuclear school. He briefly talked to the students about their recruiting process from meeting a recruiter to the day that they ship off to basic training.

In addition to visiting recruiting stations and nuclear school, he also made a special stop in Florence, SC, at the Florence City Center to present Mayor Teresa Ervin with the Navy Impact Influencer Award. This award is presented to leaders and mentors who guide their community and directly impact the selection process for the World’s Greatest Navy. The city of Florence has directly impacted the selection and acceptance of over 4,000 young men and women into the U.S. Navy. Prier to aiding the U.S. Navy in the selection process, she was selected as the first African American to hold the position of Mayor in the city of Florence, SC.
