NAS JRB Fort Worth and tenant commands welcomed 22 newly promoted chief petty officers during a pinning ceremony onboard the installation, October 22, 2022.
The chief petty officer, as recognized today, was officially established on 1 April 1893, when the rank “petty officer first class” was shifted to “chief petty officer.”
Chief Air Traffic Controlman, Mark Flores, a Texas native, expressed what it meant to him to get promoted in front of his family, friends and junior Sailors.
“It was such a great feeling to be selected in my home state of Texas and have family be able to share this day with me,” said Flores. My wife and kids have sacrificed so much throughout my career for me to be here today. I’ve also had many great leaders who have helped mold me and have given me the tools to be in the position I am today.”
Master Chief Avionics Technician (Ret.) Steve Reinert, who served in the Navy for 30 years presided as the guest speaker for the ceremony.
“It is always an honor to be asked to participate in any part of the Chiefs training process. This year, to be able to guest speak, is a memory I will always treasure,” said Reinert.
Reinert advised the new chief petty officers this year to expand their network. “Getting to know your fellow Chief’s and understanding the chief’s contributions that they would have access to, is a pillar toward successfully achieving goals.”
NAS Fort Worth JRB is a joint defense facility which plays a pivotal role in the training and equipping of air crews and aviation ground support personnel.
