CHISINAU, Moldova – Members of the Moldovan Mass Media Cell (MMC) conducted training with U.S. Army public affairs Soldiers from U.S. Special Operations Command Europe (SOCEUR) in Chisinau, Moldova Oct. 23-28.
The training included public affairs officers from the Moldovan Ministry of Defence and press officers from units across Moldova. It was also the first time the SOCEUR public affairs team has worked with the MMC.
“I’m really thankful for the opportunity to build relationships with the Moldovan Mass Media Cell and appreciated being able to make connections for future projects,” said Staff Sgt. Daniel Ward, public affairs specialist with SOCEUR. “It was a good opportunity to learn from each other.”
During the training, individuals discussed public affairs operations, social media, combatting disinformation, video production, video editing, and working with the media. The SOCEUR public affairs team also helped train the MMC on their new equipment.
The MMC recently received a donation from a non-governmental organization of new equipment which included cameras, lighting, tablets, laptops and GoPros. The new equipment will allow them to greatly enhance their public affairs capabilities across the country.
“This was a great opportunity to exchange knowledge,” said Maj. Maria Arma, MMC public affairs officer. “We appreciate this event and hope to continue this partnership in the future.”
Military public affairs professionals in Moldova and the U.S. are responsible for capturing content of their militaries through photography and video, facilitating media engagements with military units and leaders, responding to media queries, and telling the stories of the units and service members they support.
