FORT WAYNE AIR NATIONAL GUARD BASE, Ind. – U.S. Air Force Chief Master Sgt. Jon G. Beam, superintendent, 122nd Fighter Wing (FW) Aircraft Maintenance Squadron, retired after 34 years of service in a ceremony attended by Airmen assigned to the 122nd FW along with friends and family at the Indiana Air National Guard Base, Fort Wayne, Indiana, Nov. 5, 2022.
Beam began his career as an aircraft armament systems specialist and over the course of his career worked with various aircraft including the A-10 Thunderbolt II, F-4 Phantom II and the F-16 Fighting Falcon.
“His accomplishments are too numerous to list here, but his exemplary performance as production superintendent, wing weapons manager and finally the aircraft maintenance squadron superintendent cannot go unmentioned,” said Lt. Col. Kristen E. Westby, commander, 122nd FW Maintenance Group.
During his career, Beam served on multiple deployments including deployments to Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Qatar, Iraq and Afghanistan.
“Chief Master Sgt. Beam's leadership was highlighted during numerous temporary duty assignments and Air Expeditionary Force deployments along with his unfaltering dedication to maintain aircraft maintenance squadron readiness in preparation for the recent large scale readiness exercise,” said Westby. “His knowledge, mentorship and career experience will be missed in the maintenance group.”
