    SALEM, Ore.- The 1249th Engineer Battalion, Oregon National Guard, activated the 2060th Quartermaster Detachment Saturday, 5 Nov. 2022, at the Anderson Readiness Center in Salem, Oregon.

    The mission of the 2060 Quartermaster Detachment is to provide field feeding support for up to 700 personnel. Additionally, the detachment supports the 1249th Engineer Battalion and 821st Troop Command Battalion of the Oregon Army National Guard working out of one Containerized Kitchen and two Mounted Kitchen Trailers.

    Capt. Rainie Adams, the detachment commander, said, "They are great cooks; they're ready to go out there and feed the 821st and 1249th Battalions."

    During the activation ceremony, Lt. Col. Jeremiah Beckert, the 1249th Engineer Battalion Commander, said, "the 2060th has some of the best cooks in the state in this unit; it's always a joy to eat whatever they cook."

    The 2060 Quartermaster Detachment is authorized 15 personnel and currently has three vacancies, two MOS 92G1O (E1-E4) and one MOS 92G2O (E5). Adams said," We're looking for more cooks; if anybody is interested, there's a remarkable $20,000 bonus for a non-prior service. So we welcome anybody interested. And we just look forward to feeding Soldiers."
