CAMP HUMPHREYS, Republic of Korea – Alex Williams, the guitarist of the Bryce Vine Band returned to Korea for the first time since he was born here 27 years ago. Williams visited Camp Humphreys as part of the band’s five-day tour in Korea and Japan with Armed Forces Entertainment.

Williams said how special it is for him to perform in South Korea where he was born. His father served as an active-duty service member in U.S. Army Garrison Yongsan.

“I was born in Yongsan in 1995, and I haven’t been back since then, so for the concert tomorrow I am really excited to perform in this country,” said Williams.

Williams shared he inherited his musical talent from his father and grandfather who respectively played base guitar and drum. Williams recalled his childhood memory where he would sit and listen to his father and grandfather playing music.

Coming back to the country his father served in, Williams plans to experience the country to the fullest this time.

“I’m stoked to be around Korea, not only inside the base in the military but more of the Korea - traditional places, downtown, and different foods and clothes,” said Williams. “Oh, and I had bulgogi last night with my band in Osan, and it was great! I am excited to eat diverse food here in Korea."

The Bryce Vine concert is scheduled for 6:30 p.m., Oct. 27, at the Flightline Tap Room.
