Marine Attack Squadron (VMA) 542, 2nd Marine Aircraft Wing (MAW), is scheduled to hold a re-designation ceremony Dec. 1 at 10 a.m. at Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point, North Carolina.
The ceremony marks VMA-542’s transition from an AV-8B Harrier squadron to the Marine Corps’ first East Coast operational F-35 Lightning II Joint Strike Fighter squadron as part of the Marine Corps’ modernization efforts for the future fight.
