WRIGHT-PATTERSON AIR FORCE BASE, Ohio — Eight 88th Air Base Wing Airmen and civilians recently won major command-level awards for fiscal year 2022.

Six 88th Comptroller Squadron members were winners of Air Force Materiel Command financial management awards:

    • 88 CPTS: Financial Operations Office of the Year
    • Amy Stelljes: Resource Adviser of the Year (Installation Level)
    • Senior Airman Taylor McAfee: Airman of the Year
    • Kellie Lowe: Civilian of the Year (GS-8 and below)
    • Cathleen Worley: James E. Short Award for Outstanding Contribution to Mentorship and Career Development
    • Lt. Col. Amy Justus: Maj. Gen. Frank R. Faykes FM and Comptroller of the Year

“Our Airmen have worked hard over the past year and are passionate about furthering the mission and taking care of Team Wright-Patt,” said Justus, the 88 CPTS commander. “Our team of exceptional supervisors, Airmen and a highly motivated senior enlisted leader (Chief Master Sgt. Sharma Haynes) goes above and beyond every day to embody our vision to deliver world-class customer service.”

Two Airmen from the 88th Security Forces Squadron earned AFMC outstanding individual awards:

    • Master Sgt. Joseph Sewell: Outstanding Security Forces Flight-Level Senior Noncommissioned Officer Award
    • Senior Master Sgt. James Perry: Outstanding Security Forces Air Reserve Component Senior Noncommissioned Officer Award

“It was awesome to see their names in the announcement and know how hard they have worked over the past year – not for the award, but for their Airmen and team,” said Lt. Col. Nicole Schatz, 88 SFS commander. “Senior Master Sgt. Perry is our newest individual mobilization augmentee on the team and brings a diverse civilian law enforcement background, which is a skill set that we didn’t have before. Master Sgt. Sewell is one of the newest SNCOs to the unit and guides more than 50 military and civilian Defenders in daily force-protection activities.”

All eight winners will now compete at the Air Force level. Results are expected in 2023.
