BIDDLE AIR NATIONAL GUARD BASE, Pa. -- The 111th Attack Wing had a Unit Effectiveness Inspection performed by the Air Combat Command Headquarters Inspector General Inspection Team from Dec. 1, 2022, to Dec. 4, 2022, at Biddle Air National Guard Base in Horsham, Pennsylvania.
The purpose of a UEI is to measure a unit’s effectiveness and readiness on a scale of four grades ranging from ineffective to highly effective.
“The UEI is fundamentally a report card for the unit,” said Lt. Col. Steven K. Good, 111th Attack Wing Inspector General.
The wing’s senior leaders were informed during the UEI out-brief on Dec. 4, 2022 that the wing had earned a grade of “effective.”
“Our capstone inspection was the culmination of what turned into a six-year cycle that included two midpoint inspections, and you crushed it,” said Col. Deane E. Thomey, 111th Attack Wing Commander. “The IG graded our wing ‘effective’ in every major graded area and sub-area!”
Good said the success of the inspection is due in part to the hard work of the wing’s members in preparation.
“We are incredibly pleased to see that the wing received on overall effective rating,” said Good. “Every single member in every section of every unit takes their jobs seriously and worked hard to prepare for this inspection. That’s what helped this wing succeed.”
Nineteen personnel from the command were recognized by the ACC inspection team as “superior performing individuals,” and two were recognized during the inspection with ACC IG team coins.
“The inspection team validated that we are doing outstanding work,” Thomey said. “It was very gratifying to see the number of superior performers recognized across the wing.”
So what does this mean for the future of the 111th ATKW?
“Going forward, we are going to continue our focus on improvement,” Thomey said. “This time the results were 'effective' across the board, now let's take their recommendations for improvement and the lessons that we have learned and strive to make our programs and processes ‘highly effective’! Amazing job and I hope you all have a happy holiday season!”
