MILLINGTON, Tennessee – Command Personnel and Pay Administrators stationed at commands around the world have a “Genius Bar” to help them with complex or unfamiliar issues they face in helping Sailors.
The CPPA serves as a critical link between Sailors, their commands, and the servicing organization, such as one of the Transaction Service Centers. CPPAs advise their leadership on pay and personnel issues within the command; facilitate pay and personnel transactions for personnel on the behalf of the pay and personnel support organization; facilitate command-level support to billet-based distribution processes within the command; and provide guidance to personnel on changes to pay and personnel policies and procedures.
“The scope of what we do is very broad and dynamic,” said Personnel Specialist 1st Class Ryan Kovac, a MNCC Pro-to-Pro Cell agent. “[The Pro-to-Pro Cell] is able to provide real-time answers and training. It’s an invaluable tool to a CPPA.”
MNCC established the Pro-to-Pro Cell in 2019 to assist CPPAs who have questions or are experiencing difficulties within their lines of work. Pro Cell agents are split between two locations, Millington, Tennessee, and Little Creek, Virginia. The multi-site approach provides redundancy, enabling continuation of services should one of the sites lose connectivity.
The MyNavy Career Center’s Human Resources Service Center CPPA Pro-to-Pro Cell is ready to assist CPPAs with pay, personnel, and travel transactions as well as explain updates to policies and procedures.
“If a CPPA calls in with an issue after doing their research, we’re able to troubleshoot with them right there on the phone,” said Kovac. “We provide them real-time feedback and show them how to navigate to fix the issue. If there is an indebtedness, we show them how to find where it came from and how to track back to an entitlement that may have been overpaid.”
Because of the specialized nature of what they do, the Pro-to-Pro Cell works exclusively with CPPAs. Sailors and Veterans with questions about their own transactions and who are not CPPAs should either contact their CPPAs or the established MNCC Contact Center agents.
Chief Personnel Specialist Bozena Mammah, a CPPA at U.S. Fleet Forces Command in Norfolk uses the Pro Cell often and credits them with quickly resolving the several issues she’s encountered. She also said she’s benefited from on-the-spot training and guidance.
“I call the Pro-Cell between 3 and 7 times a week.” said “I am glad CPPAs have that option.”
CPPAs can contact the Pro-to-Pro Cell by calling MNCC at 833-330-MNCC (1-833-330-6622) and selecting Option 2, or by email at askmncc.fct@navy.mil.
