The 4th Infantry Division Band packed up their instruments and made their way to perform their “Let It Snow” concert for the Fort Carson community at Fountain Fort Carson High School, Dec. 15, 2022. The 4th Inf. Div. Band supports the community in a multitude of ways, from marching and performing in parades, to concerts like these.
“We start planning this event around midsummer,” said Chief Warrant Officer 2 Mike Becker, commander of the 4th Inf. Div. Band. “We put a lot of thought and effort into it so it really comes across on stage.” The 4th Inf. Div. Band helped spread holiday cheer this season at two other “Let It Snow” concerts as well, this being their final concert of the year.
“Anytime we get to play is exciting for us, but this is the biggest production of the year where we pull out all the stops,” said Becker.
The event, which was open to the public, included participation from the Fountain Fort Carson High School choir, which performed two songs during the program.
The band played 12 songs, including “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas,” “The Most Wonderful time of the Year,” and “All I Want for Christmas.”
“It might sound cheesy, but I actually like the holiday music we perform at these concerts,” said Sgt. Charles McCormick, a percussionist assigned to the 4th Inf. Div. Band.
The audience showed their appreciation for the performance with multiple standing ovations. The 4th Inf. Div. Band performs these concerts every year, held at different locations to help provide holiday spirit to the Fort Carson community. This final performance capped off a year of success for the band.
“This is a way for us to get out into the community and to really engage with them and provide something uplifting and a service to them,” said Becker.
