    Task Force Spartan

CAMP BUEHRING, Kuwait -- Soldiers of the 2nd Cavalry Regiment, 116th Combined Arms Battalion conducted a live grenade qualification range December 29, 2022, at Camp Buehring, Kuwait.
Prior to the range, the Task Force Rattler Soldiers prepared thoroughly.
2-116th CAB, or Task Force Rattler, provided all the Soldiers using the range with refresher training that went over various throwing tactics and indicated which personnel would need further instruction prior to the range. The Soldier's success depended on this instruction.
The Soldiers would qualify by throwing M69 practice grenades at six different stations, or "lanes." At station one, Soldiers were to engage a group of F-Type silhouettes in an opening from a two-man foxhole; Station two consisted of engaging a bunker with two firing potholes, that the Soldiers had to low crawl into position; At station three the Soldiers had to engage a fortified 82mm mortar position from twenty meters; Station four was engaging groups of targets, behind cover, twenty meters away; Station five’s task was to clear an entry point to a trench twenty-five meters away; and at station six they had to engage troops in a halted, open wheeled vehicle 25 meters away.
The Soldiers would need to receive a go at all six lanes, plus the live grenade throw, in order to get expert. They would have to successfully complete at least five stations to qualify. Each position was a new challenge that required the Soldiers to deploy their grenade from a different position or at a different series of targets.
Everyone gathered for a briefing about the day's main event, throwing live grenades, after completing the qualification range. The initial group of Soldiers headed to the grenade bunker when the briefing was over.
The Soldiers used at least 300 M69 practice grenades and more than 100 fragmentation grenades by the conclusion of the day – all without incurring any injuries.
The Soldiers gained a thorough awareness of their duties as well as the knowledge and abilities required to carry them out thanks to the grenade training. The initial training prepared them to succeed, while the lanes offered a chance for the Soldiers to execute and check the knowledge they had gained. And now, Task Force Rattler is more prepared for potential missions in the future.
