U.S. Marine Corps Sgt. Tierra R. Gray, an administrative specialist with 2nd Low Altitude Air Defense (2d LAAD) Battalion, was recognized by Havelock Chamber of Commerce Military Affairs Committee at Marine Corps Air Station (MCAS) Cherry Point, North Carolina, Jan. 24, 2023. Gray was recognized for her dedication to volunteering in the community.
As a part of Marine Corps Community Services Cherry Point’s Adopt-a-School program, 2d LAAD adopted Roger Bell New Tech Academy. Gray has since volunteered at all events for the school. 1stLt. Cody Jones, the liaison between the battalion and the school, said he nominated Gray because as a volunteer at the school, she mentors students, helping them in efforts to set and achieve personal goals.
Gray said although she volunteers out of the kindness of her heart, it feels good to be recognized. She said she will continue her volunteerism in the school.
