Reed enlisted into the Marine Corps in 2020 and has since deployed twice and completed the martial arts instructor’s course.
“One thing I really admire about him is not only his perseverance, but his ability to overcome the challenges of both being a Marine and a single father” said Capt. Nicholas Huang, company commander, 2d CEB.
“This is the second time I been to Norway, but the first time I been away from my 5-month-old daughter this long,” said Reed.
When asked why he decided to re-enlist, Reed said, “I re-enlisted for my daughter. I also love the family and loyalty that comes with the Corps, and I want her to be a part of that”.
Cpl Reed was recently selected for recruiting duty. Following the completion of his deployment to Norway, Reed will be preparing for his departure to recruiting school.
“If you don’t already have a plan, what’s another four years going to hurt to serve your country. Do it, then come up with a plan later. Remember, you’re doing a great service out here for your country and your loved ones,” said Reed. “Anything you do in life, have a good attitude. Your thoughts breed your habits, so staying positive brings positivity.”
