U.S. Marine Corps Lance Cpl. Miguel Romero, an air traffic controller with Headquarters and Headquarters Squadron, Marine Corps Air Station (MCAS) Cherry Point, was recognized as the Service Person of the Quarter by the Carteret County Chamber of Commerce Military Affairs Committee at the Air Traffic control Tower, MCAS Cherry Point, North Carolina, Feb. 24, 2023.
Romero, a Faribault, Minnesota native, was recognized for his volunteer work in the local community and on the air station. Cpl. Romero has volunteered his time at the Tucker Creek Middle School Boo Bash Dance; the Barley Chase 5K/10K; The Ark Consignment & Thrift Shop; gift wrapping at the Marine Corps Exchange; and the Devil Pups Birthday Bash.
“In the short time I have worked with him, he has inspired fellow Marines with his work ethic and genuine interest for other’s well-being,” said U.S. Marine Corps Sgt. Randal Lopez, an air traffic controller with Headquarters and Headquarters Squadron. “It comes as no surprise to me that he has committed so much of his free time to serving the local community.”
