    Defense Contract Management Agency

    ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. –
Navy Capt. Gabriel Hohner assumed command of the Defense Contract Management Agency Aircraft Integrated Maintenance Operations Command here March 2.

Hohner is a naval aviator with 20 years of aircraft operations experience and has served with DCMA for almost five years. His most recent assignment was commander of DCMA AIMO St. Augustine, which he held since May 2020. Prior to that command position, he was St. Augustine’s deputy technical director for two years.

Hohner said he is honored to follow in the footsteps of outgoing commander Navy Capt. Jeffrey Carty and Navy Capt. Shane Tallant before him. He believes their contributions helped pave the way toward transitioning AIMO into an operational command and preparing it for the future.

“I’m looking forward to moving AIMO to the next level of extending our workload and being even more effective in our role as an operational unit,” Hohner said.

Carty, who became AIMO’s commander in March 2020, will officially retire June 1 after 29 years of service. During the combined change of command and retirement ceremony, he said it was an honor and privilege for him and his family to spend almost three decades serving the nation.

“The experiences we’ve had, the amazing people with whom we’ve served and the lifelong friendships we’ve made along the way have been truly humbling,” said Carty.

Army Lt. Gen. David Bassett, DCMA’s director, said he was sad to see Carty go, but the Navy always sends the agency the right leader at the right time.

“Having an experienced teammate like Capt. Hohner is exactly the right leader at the right time to lead AIMO to even better achievements in the future,” he said. “We’re really blessed to be able to keep such talented officers here in the agency.”

AIMO provides independent contract administration services and contractor oversight for the Department of Defense and other agencies in aircraft production, overhaul, modification, and maintenance and repair with the goal of delivering quality products to the warfighter, on time and within budget.
