JOINT BASE ANDREWS, Md. – Kristen Christy, a master resiliency expert, spoke at the base theater in honor of Women’s History Month, March 27, 2023. Christy, who earned the 2018 Air Force Spouse of the Year Award, shared her story of loss and the importance of remaining resilient through life’s challenges.
Christy's husband, Don, committed suicide shortly before his promotion to Colonel which has had a lasting impact on their family.
“Life is a tough teacher, we get the test first and then we learn the lesson”, said Christy.
Christy also shared her military childhood experience and how she eventually became a military spouse. She spoke about how she has relied heavily on those around her and her firm belief that “there is super power in community”.
