FORT KNOX, Ky. – The U.S. Army Warrior Fitness Team signed Maggie Callahan as the team’s Strength and Conditioning Coach and Athletic Trainer in September 2022.

The Warrior Fitness Team is comprised of elite athletes who compete in CrossFit, Strongman, and Strongwoman. The athletes, all active-duty soldiers, adhere to a strict training regimen, with direct focus on key performance areas like mobility, stability, power, agility, speed, technique, and execution.

As a former Cross Fit competitor of over 10 years, Maggie is aware of the physical demands of the sport, including frequency of training, healthy eating habits, and burn out and has been coaching athletes of all ages and levels for almost 20 years. Along with her years of experience, she brings an arsenal of corrective drills to help the athletes increase their strength, flexibility, and endurance.

Maggie’s credentials include an undergraduate degree in Human Movement and Sport Science and a master’s degree in Exercise Science and Strength and Conditioning. She is also a certified strength and conditioning coach, licensed and certified athletic trainer, licensed massage therapist, USAW-L1 Olympic weightlifting coach and Cross Fit Level 2 coach.

As elite competitors with busy schedules, it helps to have someone on the team with an extensive understanding of how the body adapts to stress and recovers to be able to implement appropriate periodization. Maggie monitors the athletes mental and physical fatigue to ensure that they are all progressing towards their and their team’s desired goals.

“My main focus is recovery for the athletes between training sessions and prevention of injury.” Maggie stated. “I have always wanted to work with the military alongside the best of the best. To be able to give back to those that provide us with protection is an honor and privilege.” Maggie added that this job allows her to utilize all her trainings, certifications, experience, and knowledge to “serve those that serve for us.”

In the five months since joining the team, Maggie has already proven to be a strong asset. Along with her professional knowledge, the athletes find comfort in working with someone who has experienced the training and competition herself.

“Maggie has been a key asset to our team as a whole,” stated Warrior Fitness team member Sydney Moskovitz. “She has been able to help bridge the gap between our programming, movement, and recovery. Since she has joined the team, I have personally witnessed my recovery and fitness level increase. She is a true professional at her job.”

The US Army Mission Support Battalion (USAMSB) is part of the Army Marketing and Engagement Brigade based in Fort Knox, Kentucky. In addition to competing, the Warrior Fitness Team, supports shaping operations with local recruiting companies around the nation.
