Soldiers from the 65th Medical Brigade demonstrated their dedication to excellence and camaraderie between allied forces as they participated in the German Armed Forces Proficiency Badge (GAFPB) qualification from March 30-31, 2023.
The GAFPB is a prestigious military decoration awarded by the German Army to soldiers from allied nations who demonstrate superior physical and mental prowess. The two-day event took place at Camp Humphreys, with participants tested on a series of challenging tasks that encompassed military fitness, stress shooting, and medical proficiency.
Soldiers from the 65th Medical Brigade joined their German counterparts in a comprehensive physical assessment, which tested their overall fitness levels. In addition, they showcased their ability to perform under pressure in a stress shoot exercise, where they had to rapidly engage targets after completing a series of physically demanding tasks. The soldiers also demonstrated their medical knowledge in a first-aid scenario.
The GAFPB also included a grueling 12-kilometer ruck march with a minimum weight of 33 pounds, which had to be completed within two hours. The event demanded both physical endurance and mental resilience from the participants, pushing them to their limits.
Soldiers who successfully completed all the required tasks were awarded the GAFPB in gold, silver, or bronze, based on their overall performance. The award ceremony was attended by high-ranking officials from both the U.S. Army and the German Armed Forces, who congratulated the soldiers for their exceptional achievements.
The participation of the 65th Medical Brigade in the GAFPB qualification not only showcased the skill and determination of U.S. soldiers but also fostered camaraderie and mutual respect between the two allied forces. This collaboration strengthens the bond between the United States and Germany, ensuring continued cooperation and shared commitment to global peace and security.
