In celebration of Month of the Military Child, service members and their families seized a sunny spring day on an Atlantic Beach pier for some angling amusement. The Carteret County Chamber of Commerce Military Affairs Committee (MAC) invited active-duty families to fish, play games, and eat lunch for Family Fishing Fun Day on the Oceana Fishing Pier, Atlantic Beach, North Carolina, April 22, 2023. The day of fun served as an occasion to celebrate Month of the Military Child, which recognizes the many challenges military children face. Carteret MAC held the event in sync with the DoD appreciation month to celebrate and support the youngest members of the military community.
“We host events like this to show the kids how much the local community supports them for everything that they do for us,” said Lori Tulloch, a chairperson of the Carteret MAC. “We are here for them and they have a family here.”
