IRAQ - Thanksgiving day for Task Force 1 MED Soldiers was wonderful for many reasons, including a collection of cards, letters and goodies from an unexpected source.

An elementary school class from northern Virginia reached out to a TF 1 MED Soldier from that area and asked what they could do to show their gratitude for our service.
The Sunrise Valley Elementary School from Reston, Va., chose to commemorate Veterans Day this year by writing letters to TF 1 MED brigade Soldiers.

The letters, drawings, cards, and goodies arrived just in time for Thanksgiving, and the thoughts and prayers expressed by those children truly gave us something to be thankful for. The package included a banner covered with handprints from the school, with this most appropriate message: "Thank You for Helping to Take Care of our Servicemen and the Iraqi People." The school now displays some of the pictures seen here, and its visitors are reminded of our service. Most recently we received this kind note from the school's principal, Jennifer Frazier:

"Wanted to let you know I received the CD and thank you cards - I just finished putting up pictures on my bulletin board of our service men and women in your pictures and those who sent cards back ... the students and parents have all stopped to look. Thank you for sharing the joy back with us. I pray that this cycle of kindness will continue in all areas of our children's lives."
