    CAMP ROBINSON, Ark.--
The 87th Troop Command is taking active steps to ensure that when faced with the mission or mental health, Soldiers don’t have to choose. The comprehensive wellness training sets it’s sights on some of the largest stressors the Guardsmen face both in and out of uniform by offering material to grow mental, physical, spiritual, and financial health. Given their unique position within the community, finding resources to support a diverse array of Guardsmen facing their own challenges is no easy task. To assist in their never-ending mission of supporting the wellness of the citizen soldier, the 87th Troop Command has called upon professionals from several fields to guide their Soldiers towards readiness and piece of mind on several fronts.
“You’ve got to make sure your own cup is full before you can fill other’s, you’re always going to be your number one customer, you’ve got to take care of you” says Lamanda Blackman, a wellness expert assisting in the training. As a former combat medic herself, Blackman is all too familiar with the notoriously difficult life-work balance demanded by the military. Many of the experts assisting the 87th Troop Command Soldiers in this wellness training are veterans themselves and understand the challenges faced by today’s National Guardsmen both in the field and at home.
As the 87th Troop Command continues to prioritize the well-being of its Soldiers, this comprehensive training program stands as a testament to their commitment to cultivating a resilient and prepared force.
With training initiatives like this, the 87th Troop Command aims to foster a spirit of resilience and mental agility in it’s Soldiers. By providing resources and tools for Arkansas’s Guardsmen to evaluate and improve their personal wellness, this training seeks to better prepare Guardsmen for the challenges of an ever-changing and adapting battlefield. The path ahead for the military is never certain, but with tools like this in the arsenal of Arkansas’s National Guardsmen the 87th Troop Command can be sure they have equipped their Soldiers with skills that will undoubtedly empower the modern Citizen Soldier in and out of the field.
