Black Hawk Bearcats?
CAMP ROBINSON, ARKANSAS –Students with the Brookland High School Junior Recruiting Officer Training program sent 18 Students to ride in a black hawk with the 777th Combat Aviation Brigade and get an explosive demonstration from the 1036th Engineer Company during this Annual Training 2023.
The JROTC program at Brookland has maintained a close relationship with Camp Robinson for more than 20 years. The Program regularly sends their students wishing to advance in the program to summer camps at Robinson. JROTC 2nd Lt. Acacia Fellows, with Brookland High School, was especially excited to fly.
“I Love being in the air. It’s one of my favorite things!” Fellows said. “Like air planes and repel towers.”
The students were in the air around 20 minutes during their training flight. The importance of this connection between the two organizations was not lost on these students either. The program teaches kids responsibility, leadership, and accountability at a key point in a developing teens’ life whether or not they choose to join the military after high school or college.
Fellows said. “It gives us that hands on learning experience. Stuff we might be interested in the feature. Stuff that helps us learn about the activates that we are doing.”
