FORT KNOX, Ky.- The 1st Theater Sustainment Command welcomed home Soldiers from a six-month deployment, during a ceremony in front of Fowler Hall, June 11.

The group known as Blue Team returned from conducting operations in the Middle East. Designated as Red, White, and Blue, the teams, comprised of Soldiers from the 1st TSC and tenant units, continuously complete 6-month deployment rotations.

As part of their mission, these Soldiers serve as the 1st TSC Main Command Post’s constant forward presence and are always ready to respond to contingencies and set the conditions for successful sustainment operations across the U.S. Central Command Area of Responsibility.

When the team landed in Baltimore, they were greeted by Command Sgt. Maj. Wesley Townsend, senior enlisted advisor, Special Troops Battalion, 1st TSC. He rode back with the Soldiers on the 20-hour bus trip to Fort Knox.

“It was a great honor to be able to receive the Blue Team at Baltimore Washington International Airport and serve as the liaison between the MCP, Soldiers and Family Readiness Group, Operational Command Post, Transportation, and the Blue Team, after multiple delays and 20 hours of traveling,” Townsend said.

Soldiers of the Blue Team were greeted by their friends and family at the redeployment ceremony, hosted by Maj. Gen. Michel M. Russell Sr., commanding general, 1st TSC.

Russell welcomed home the Blue Team and thanked them for their hard work.

"We are extremely proud of each and every one of you,” he said.

As the formation was released, Russell instructed the family members and friends to find their respective Soldiers and welcome them home.

The 1st TSC provides centralized sustainment Command and Control and executes predictive and precise operational-level sustainment to the Army, Joint Force, and Unified Action Partners to enable multi-domain operations in support of the Combatant Command (U.S. Central Command) and the Theater Army/Combined Forces Land Component Command.
