    354th Fighter Wing

The 354th Fighter Wing activated two new Fighter Generation Squadrons May 24, 2023.

U.S. Air Force Maj. Joshua Casey, 355th FGS commander, and Maj. Erik Ritschard, 356th FGS commander, assumed control of their new squadrons while Maj. Stephen White assumed command of the 354th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron.

“The 354th AMXS established two new Fighter Generation squadrons,” said White. “This creates a leadership chain that is more agile and organized toward Agile Combat Employment.”

Agile Combat Employment is a key operating concept for how the U.S. Air Force will fly and fight in a modern, contested environment. 650 maintenance personnel will be divided across three squadrons with this transition

“This new change gives Airmen more support from leadership through providing greater access to command teams,” Casey explained. “With three commanders residing in the work centers, leadership can have more interactions with members to understand the organization's inner-workings and teams they lead.”

With Eielson’s growing mission, these new squadrons will support the wing in its mission to project strategic airpower and train advanced airpower operations with the introduction of three fighter generation squadrons specific to each fighter squadron.

“Like any new thing in the DoD, there will be an adjustment period,” said Casey. “We’d like to thank our partners in Air Combat Command and Pacific Air Forces for streamlining our transition and giving us hints and tips along the way so that our mission capability never dwindled, and our Airmen didn’t have to feel any administrative burden during the transition.”
