BELTON, Texas — One of my favorite ways to beat the brutal heat of a Texas summer is to cool off in a pool. With temps hovering over the 100-degree mark, Summer Fun Waterpark in Belton seemed like the perfect escape.
Located less than a half hour to the east of Fort Cavazos, the park sits on seven acres. It features a 40-foot tower with three giant waterslides that allow enthusiasts to twist and turn down 900 feet of body and tube slides before plunging into the pool below.
For those that crave a slower, more relaxed experience, the lazy river is more your speed.
It was also my favorite attraction at the water park.
At three feet-deep, guests can enjoy the continuous stream standing or floating on a tube.
We didn’t bring tubes, and fortunately, we didn’t need to. The park provides tubes free of charge, along with $5 life vest rentals.
For us, tubes made for the perfect vehicle to go with the flow of the steady current and take in the sights and sounds as we floated around the park.
The waterslides were tempting, but the 750-feet of continuous drifting along the lazy river kept us entertained the entire evening.
The water park is super family friendly and offers water activities for youngsters of all ages.
My friends and I decided to take full advantage of a kid-free evening during Adult Night.
The event caters to those 21 and over and allows patrons to bring their own adult beverages and party with a live DJ all night.
Adult Nights are set to occur every other Saturday from 8 p.m. to midnight, continuing through Aug. 26.

Summer Fun Waterpark is open 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 1 to 6 p.m. Sunday. Please be aware that youth 12 and under must be with a guardian at all times if you choose to visit with your children.
Parking at the venue is free, but the lot fills up quickly, so get there early.
