U.S. Marine Corps Corporals with Corporals Course class, 5-23, took part in a 5-day course specifically designed for the largest class of reserve Marines from around the country. This course had 72 Marines and 7 instructors. A significant difference between this course and a normal Corporals Course is while this course took place over 5 days, a normal course takes place over three weeks.
“We have Marines from throughout the country who have come here on five-day orders in order to attend the PME from all throughout the country and all throughout multiple MOS’s throughout MARFORRES.” Said U.S. Marine Corps 1st Sgt. Justin Cuomo, senior enlisted leader for Company C, 1st Bn, 23rd Marines, Fourth Marine Division.
This Corporals Course specializes in teaching reservists how to lead themselves, their peers and their junior Marines. The course is different due to their specification in training aimed towards leading fellow reservists. Throughout the course they get multiple chances to take that next step in their leadership capabilities with the help of their instructors and their peers.
“This course is really outstanding First Sergeant Cuomo and his instructors have taught us a lot of stuff that I could bring down to my unit.” Said U.S. Marine Corps Cpl. Mustafa Amir, an Intermediate Contingency Contract Specialist with 6th Communication Battalion.
“The opportunity to do this here at Quantico where more than 70 reservists from throughout MARFORRES have come together to interact, break bread with one another, learn from each other in a formal setting away from the daily requirements of drill weekend has been a unique opportunity that I think we’re making the most of this week.” Said Cuomo.
