The U.S. Marine Forces Reserve Band performed at Tennessee State University at the Poag Auditorium, Monday, Sept. 11, 2023.
The U.S. Marine Forces Reserve Band, stationed aboard the Marine Corps Support Facility New Orleans, was established in 1978 and is one of the 10 Marine Corps field bands that comprises active-duty Marines. The band provides musical support for military ceremonies and other official functions, Marine Corps community relation events, and Marine Corps personnel procurement programs.
The Marine Forces Reserve Band embodies the spirit of the United States Marine Corps, not only through their military service but also through the power of music. The band takes center stage in over 350 concerts, parades, and ceremonies annually, leaving a mark on audiences nationwide.
Comprising nearly every musician in the unit, the concert band delivers performances that span a vast musical landscape. From traditional pieces to contemporary pieces in the categories of wind band literature, orchestral transcriptions, pop arrangements, and concert marches, the Marines have a dedication to their craft.
The band's mission extends on tours that take them to communities and educational institutions across the country, performing for millions of people annually.
Their dual commitment to music and military service exemplifies the band's unwavering dedication to their country and the core values of being a Marine.
