TYNDALL AIR FORCE BASE, Fla. -- U.S. Air Force Brig. Gen. Jeffrey Weiss, Director of Regional Affairs for the Deputy Under Secretary of the Air Force, and Brig. Gen. Curtis Bass, deputy commander, USAF Warfare Center, visited the 337th Air Control Squadron, Aug. 31, 2023.
The ACS ‘Doghouse’ is a geographically separated unit of the 33rd Fighter Wing located at Tyndall Air Force Base, Florida. The Doghouse has an extensive syllabus that trains students to provide battle management command and control in subjects ranging from friendly and enemy aircraft capabilities and limitations, defensive and offensive counter air operations, suppression of enemy air defenses, and more.
During the visit to the Doghouse, they toured the new facilities, held a Q&A with the 337th, and had lunch with the graduates of class 23013, before Weiss presided over Undergraduate Air Battle Manager Training Graduation.
“The amount of technology and thought that they’ve put into the development of our next generation of Air Battle Managers is really impressive, particularly given the challenge that the base faced and the challenges of the [ABM] community as we go through transitions of weapons systems,” said Weiss.
Class 23013 received inspiration and guidance from some of the Air Force’s top leadership.
“Having senior leaders come in from their career field that they can relate to, learn from, and give feedback to is really important for both parties in terms of overall development and their continued motivation as they look forward to a successful career in the Air Force,” said Weiss.
The ACS is responsible for training the total force ABMs and graduate an average of 160 students each year. All graduates are prepared for any and every air battle scenario that may arise.
