U.S. Army Europe and Africa Safety Director, Mr. Donald Paglioni, awarded the U.S. Army Accident Prevention Award of Accomplishment to the 56th Artillery Command in Main Kastel on July 27 for successfully executing exercise Dynamic Front 23 without accidents caused by human error. This marks the first time a unit from U.S. Army Europe and Africa was recognized for its exceptional performance in six years. Mr. Paglioni praised the command for their meticulous approach to ensuring the safety of their Soldiers and civilian workforce, which involved taking careful and calculated measures to minimize any potential risks.
Dynamic Front 23 ran from March 13 to April 5, 2023, and incorporated over 1,700 military personnel from 18 countries. The training spanned multiple training areas, including Grafenwoehr Training Area in Germany and the Oksboel Training Area in Denmark. During the exercise, participants trained on synchronizing command and fires planning, maneuvering through a complex landscape of assembly area operations, artillery acumen, and live fire exercises.
"This award is thanks to the hard work of our Safety Officer Mr. Washington whose guidance and persistent emphasis on the safety program's importance led to this exercise's success. His leadership, professionalism, and dedication to the Soldiers of this organization are greatly appreciated. This award is also thanks to the diligence of every participating planner and executor of Dynamic Front 23. Your attention to detail and adherence to the program enabled this exceptional performance.," said Andrew J. Farrell, the Commander of 56th Artillery Command HHB.
The citation noted that the Soldiers and civilians of the 56th Artillery Command were able to avoid lost training time associated with high operational tempos through "measured and deliberate actions." It went on to state that through its actions, the command protected Soldiers and the civilian workforce while preserving critical combat capabilities.
During the award ceremony, Mr. Paglioni emphasized the importance of recognizing warfighters for taking deliberate actions to prevent mishaps. He encouraged leaders in the formation to keep up the excellent work.
