Soldiers of Delta Troop, 6th Squadron, 6th Cavalry Regiment, 10th Combat Aviation Brigade, 10th Mountain Division (LI), conducted cold load and hot load training at Fort Drum, New York, September 15, 2023.
The cold load and hot load training, which incorporated HH-60M Blackhawk (from C Co. 3-10 GSAB) was attended by more than 50 soldiers from the brigade. Cold load training allows soldiers to enter and exit the helicopter while the vehicle is not in operation. However, hot-load training allows soldiers to enter and exit the helicopter during a live run.
SSG Chandler, a flight paramedic, conducted a safety briefing with the soldiers and instructed them on the most expedient and proper way to enter the aircraft, load the patient on the litter pan, and position themselves to safely walk away after loading the patient. Once the instructions were complete, the soldiers participated in a dry run of the exercise.
