504th Military Expeditionary Intelligence Brigade (EMIB) Headquarters and Headquarters Company (HHC) conducted a Change of Command Ceremony at Always Ready Field on West Fort Cavazos, Texas, Sept. 28, 2023.
The Change of Command ceremony is a long-standing military tradition that represents the formal transfer of command from one commissioned officer to another.
During the ceremony, Col. David F. Bowers, commander of the 504th Expeditionary Military Intelligence Brigade, passed the Headquarters and Headquarters Company guidon to incoming HHC commander, Capt. Zachary P. Williams, symbolizing the official transfer of leadership.
Following the passing of the guidon, Col. Bowers stated his appreciation for the outgoing commander, Capt. Luis Prado, while also sharing his enthusiasm for working with the incoming "Hunter 6".
Headquarters and Headquarters Company welcomed incoming commander Capt. Zachary P. Williams and said its goodbyes to outgoing commander Capt. Luis E. Prado, who served approximately 14 months in command.
Prado had nothing but encouraging words for the incoming commander. He also conveyed gratitude toward the company and his family.
"You will be sitting in your office, and one of the Soldiers in this formation will come to you...They will confide in you, and they will ask for your help. And what you’ll find is that not only will you have a hidden reserve of strength that will allow you to help them, but that doing so will replenish you. It’ll give you hope. And it will give you purpose," said Prado.
Williams most recently served as Battalion S2 at 2nd Battalion, 5th Calvary Regiment, Fort Cavazos, Texas.
504th EMIB is one of the premiere intelligence collection units in the Army and continues to transcend boundaries at the forefront of Army transformation.
